Explanation:

y = 5x - 27 ....... (1)

y = 2x - 9 ......... (2)

Substitute the first equation into the second equation

y = 2x - 9

<=> 5x - 27 = 2x - 9

<=> 5x - 2x = 27 - 9

<=> 3x = 18

<=> x = 18 ÷ 3

<=> x = 6

Substitute x = 6 into the second equation

y = 2x - 9

y = 2(6) - 9

y = 12 - 9

y = 3
