How many students would be able to sit around a cluster of 7 square tables?

a. 16 students ✓

We know that ,

a_n = a_1 + (n - 1)d

where,

  • a_n = nth term in the sequence = 7
  • a_1 = first term in the sequence = 4
  • d = common difference between the terms = 2

Inserting the values ,

a_n = 4 + (7 - 1)2

a_n = 16

Therefore, a total of 16 students would be able to sit around a cluster of 7 square tables .

b. 15 students

c. 18 students

d. 13 students
