X - z - y = ?

If x= -8, z = -11, and y = 7.

Please help! I have a test soon and I’m really struggling with the concept of subtracting negative integers.

Your answer would be -4!

Because of the - sign in front of the z, which would be -11, it would turn into a positive. Two negatives = a positive and two positives = a negative.

Which means if you have a negative number and a subtraction symbol next to each other, they will both cancel out and turn into a +.

I hope this helped!

Answer:

X - z - y = -4.

Explanation:

X - z - y = -8 - (-11) - 7

= -8 + 11 - 7

= 3 - 7

= -4

So, X - z - y = -4.
