Answer:

835.7 in.²

Explanation:

surface area of cylinder = 2B + Ch,

where B = area of one base (a cylinder has 2 circular bases)

C = circumference of the base

h = height of the cylinder

B = πr²

B = π × (7 in.)²

B = π × 49 in.²

B = 49π in.²

h = 12 in.

C = 2πr

C = 2 × π × 7 in.

C = 14π in.

SA = 2B + Ch

SA = 2 × 49π in.² + 14π × 12 in.²

SA = 98π in.² + 168π in.²

SA = 266π in.²

Use the π button of the calculator, not 3.14 for π.

SA = 266 × 3.141592654 in.²

SA = 835.6636459 in.²

Answer: 835.7 in.²
