the lab rat knows he must learn every inch of the rectangular maze in order to get his piece of cheese in a reasonable period of time. So far, his calculations show that the maze is 6 inches longer than twice its width. If the perimeter of the maze is 228 inches, what is the mazes width? Remember, the perimeter of a rectangle is the sum of all its sides.

Answer:

36 inches

Explanation:

If we call the width w, then the length of the maze will be 2w + 6

The perimeter will therefore be 2w + 2(2w + 6) = 6w + 12 = 228

Solving for w we get w = 36
