m ED = 39°

Explanation:

The measure of an arc is the same as the central angle that subtends it.

∠ CBD is the central angle and CD the arc , then

m CD = 81°

then

m CD = m CE + m ED , that is

81° = 42° + m ED ( subtract 42° from both sides )

39° = m ED
