2(2w - 6 + w) = 60 ( divide both sides by 2 )

2w - 6 + w = 30

3w - 6 = 30 ( add 6 to both sides )

3w = 36 ( divide both sides by 3 )

w = 12 cm

and length = 2w - 6 = 2(12) - 6 = 24 - 6 = 18 cm

area of rectangle (A) is calculated as

A = length × width = 18 × 12 = 216 cm²
