Graph the relation {(-1, 3), (3, 5), (3, -2), (4, 0), (-3, 2)]. Use the vertical line test to determine if the relation is a function. Write a sentence to explain your reasoning.

Answer: The relation is not a function.

Explanation:

When we graph these points they all are considerably separate from each other. (See figure below).

Though our attention comes into motion when we visit these two points: (3,5) and (3,-2). Our issue with this is that they have the same X value or input, being 3.

If its a function the X values won't repeat.

With this rule in mind, you would not even have to graph to find your answer. Though it may act as a supplement when it comes to supporting your answer. If a drawn line hits two or more points it does not pass the VLT.
