The two short stories I have studied are "The Lady, or the Tiger?" by Frank R. Stockton and "The Necklace" by Guy de Maupassant. I have chosen to analyze "The Necklace".
The main characters in the story are:

• Monsieur Loisel: Madame Loisel's husband. He supports his wife by working extra jobs to help pay for the replacement of the necklace.
• The Duchess: The owner of the lost diamond necklace. She is described as being extremely rich and owning many expensive jewels. She never discovers that the necklace was lost and replaced with a duplicate.
