There are numerous motivations for one to decide to steal. Reasons people steal include financial struggles, euphoria, control, or psychological issues.

One reason someone would steal would be because they struggle financially. Without the stable income flow of money, they may resort to larceny or other forms of obtaining the requirements to maintain a proper living environment.

Another reason one might steal is simply because of euphoria. When some people steal, it gives them a sense of excitement that causes them to want to go back and do it again possibly for a bigger quantity. An adrenaline rush often drives this feeling of wanting to steal something that doesn’t properly belong to that person.

Control is also a reason somebody would want to steal. Some people feel that by taking what isn’t theirs, whether it be big or small, they exert a form of dominion over everybody else. While this may be temporary, not dealing with it causes them to want to go back for more.

Psychological issues also can tie into why people steal. Conditions such as kleptomania cause people to want to steal compulsively. While they know it doesn’t benefit them in any way, there’s something psychologically that influences their decision to keep taking and taking.

People steal for a lot of reasons, and most of the time it happens to be backed by a financial reason.
