After lining up the ray with the baseline and origin on the protractor to begin drawing an angle, the next step to draw a 40° angle is to rotate or pivot the protractor so that the baseline of the protractor aligns with the ray.

Make sure that the center point of the protractor is located at the endpoint of the ray, and that the baseline of the protractor is aligned with the ray.

Then, locate the line or tick mark on the outer edge of the protractor that is labeled as 40 degrees. This line or tick mark will be located between the 30 degree mark and the 50 degree mark on the outer edge of the protractor.

Finally, draw a line along the edge of the protractor that passes through the endpoint of the ray and intersects with the 40 degree mark, to complete the 40 degree angle.

B) Draw a ray starting at the origin point.
