[a. Beef] Answer: 40%

Explanation:

To create a percentage, we will divide the targeted amount by the total amount and then multiply it by 100. A decimal multiplied by 100 becomes a percent.

\displaystyle \frac{\text{Beef}}{\text{Total exports}} =(4\;cm)/(10\;cm) =0.4\;\;\;\;\;\;0.4*100=40\%

[b. Minerals] Answer: 5%

Explanation:

We will do the same thing we did for part a, but with the new numbers. We will divide the targeted amount by the total amount and then multiply it by 100.

\displaystyle \frac{\text{Minerals}}{\text{Total exports}} =(5\;mm)/(100\;mm) =0.05\;\;\;\;\;\;0.05*100=5\%
