A = -35

To solve this I rewrote the equation as 1/5 + 9 = 2.
Then I multiplied both sides of the equation by 5, which got me to a + 45 = 10.
Then subtract 45 on each side.
a = -35

Answer:

a = -35

Explanation:

a/5 + 9 = 2

Subtract 9 from both sides.

a/5 = -7

Multiply both sides by 5.
