Answer:

5x = 10 or x = 2 if your teacher wants x by itself.

Explanation:

1. Simplify! Is there anything to simplify? In this case no, so we can move to the next step! Equation should look like this: 3 + 2x = 13 - 3x

2. Get rid of 3, we need to find a way to get 2x by itself before we do anything else! Equation should look like this: 2x = 10 - 3x

( Make sure to get rid of 3 units on the other side so it's a legal move)

3. Get rid of -3x, we also need to get 10 by itself as it holds the answer we're looking for! Equation should look like this: 5x = 10

( Make sure to add 3x on the other side so it's a legal move!)

4. This is optional, if your teacher wants you to find out what x by itself is this is how you do it! DIVIDE!!! Divide 5x by 5 getting you x, and divide 10 by 5 getting you 2! Equation should look like this: x = 2

Keep in mind I'm not sure if your teacher wants you to do things differently, or if there's a different operation or rule to use as I'm in middle school! If I got something wrong please correct me, as I don't want to spread misinformation.
