Answer:

x : y = 1 : 3

Explanation:

Express the equivalent ratios in fractional form , that is

(3x+2y)/(3x +4y) =
(3)/(5)cross- multiply

5(3x + 2y) = 3(3x + 4y) ← distribute parenthesis on both sides

15x + 10y = 9x + 12y ( subtract 9x from both sides )

6x + 10y = 12y ( subtract 10y from both sides )

6x = 2y ( divide both sides by y )

6
(x)/(y) = 2 ( divide both sides by 6 )

(x)/(y) =
(2)/(6) =
(1)/(3)

then x : y = 1 : 3
