Gloria can sell apples at either the town grocery store or farmer’s market. She can earn:

$6.50 for every 20 apples she sells to the town grocery store
$8.25 for every 24 apples she sells at the farmer’s market

Where should she sell 10 dozen apples to make the most money, and how much more will she earn there than at the other location?

Answer:

see explanation

Explanation:

note that 1 dozen = 12

then 10 dozen = 10 × 12 = 120

she has 120 apples for sale

$6.50 for every 20 apples , then

120 ÷ 20 = 6 ← number of ' 20's ' for sale

6 × $6.50 = $39 ← money made

$8.25 for every 24 apples for sale , then

120 ÷ 24 = 5 ← number of ' 24's' for sale

5 × $8.25 = $41.25

$41.25 - £39 = $2.25

she should sell her apples at the farmer's market to make the most money

she would earn $2.25 more selling her apples here than at the grocery store.
