The First World War gave us Armistice Day, which is more often referred to in the United States as Veterans' Day. Americans in general tend to memorialize and recall the Second World War (1939-1945) much more than the First World War. For example, every major city in Australia has a large memorial and museum specifically about the First World War. In Great Britain, the entire month of November is a month of remembrance and everyone wears felt poppies on their clothes to remember all modern wars, but WWI most of all. The United States played a decisive role in the First World War. Why, then, does the United States not memorialize this war as much? Explain your thoughts and support them with evidence from the coursework.

Answer:

The United States had a far more significant influence in winning World War 2. Additionally, the US entered World War 1 because of German submarines sinking US passenger ships, not because they were threatened geopolitically.

Step-by-step explanation:

World War 2 led to many technological innovations including removing bi-planes, more lethal artillery, improving chemical warfare, and inventing nuclear weaponry. Additionally, it led straight into a decade-long power struggle with the USSR, the space race, and the arms race.
