Prokaryotic and Eukaryotic cells can be distinguished on the basis of :

  • cell is present in which type of organism
  • nuclear membrane
  • size
  • membrane bound organelles
  • chromosome
  • DNA arrangement
  • process of cell division
  • ribosomal size.

______________________

☁️Prokaryotic cell:

  • Prokaryotic cells are unicellular ( an organism that has only one single cell )
  • Well defined nuclear membrane is absent
  • The size of prokaryotic cells is 1-10 μm
  • Prokaryotes contain a single, double-stranded circular chromosome.
  • Example- Bacteria, blue green algae.

☁️Eukaryotic cell:

  • Eukaryotic cells are present in both unicellular and multicellular organisms
  • Well define nuclear membrane is present.
  • The size of eukaryotic cells is 5-100 µm
  • Eukaryotes contain double-stranded linear DNA molecules packaged into chromosomes.
  • Example :- plant cells, Meristematic cells, Bone cells.
