Holly and Ruby share some beads. Holly gets 240 beads and Ruby gets the rest. Holly then gives Ruby 34 of her beads. After she is given the beads, the total number of beads Ruby has increases 17 percent. How many beads so Holly and Ruby have all together​

Explanation:

Let the total beads = t

Ruby's beads before exchange

= total beads - Holly's beads

= t - 240

Percentage of increment = 17%


(increment\ of\ beads)/(beads\ before\ exchange) *100\%=17\%


(23)/(t-240) =(17\%)/(100\%)

17 × (t-240) = 23 × 100

17t - 4080 = 2300

17t = 2300 + 4080

t = 6380 ÷ 17

≈ 375 beads
