Given to us:–

  • \sf{3x - 7 = 11}

  • \sf{2x + 5 = 17}

  • \sf{2x + 8 = 15}

To find:–

  • Solve the equations ; determine if x = 6 is a solution to the above equations .

Eqn (1) :

\sf{3x - 7 = 11}

\sf{3x = 11 + 7}

\sf{3x = 18}

\sf{x = 6} So , yes , x = 6 is a solution .

Eqn (2) :

\sf{2x + 5= 17}

\sf{2x = 17 - 5}

\sf{2x = 12}

\sf{x = 6}

Eqn (3)

\sf{2x + 8 = 15}

\sf{2x=15-8}

\sf{2x=7}

\sf{x=7/2}

Henceforth , X = 6 is a solution to the first two equations .

Hello!

Answer:

\Large \boxed{\sf Yes}\\\Large \boxed{\sf Yes}\\\Large \boxed{\sf No}

Explanation:

Go replace x by 6:

\sf 3x - 7 = 3 * 6 - 7 = 18 - 7 = 11\\\\11

  • 11 = 11 so 6 is the solution of this equation.

\sf 2x+5= 2 * 6 + 5 = 12 +5=17 \\\\17

  • 17 = 17 so 6 is the solution of this equation.

\sf 2x+8= 2 * 6 + 8 = 12 + 8 = 20 \\\\15

  • 20 ≠ 15 so 6 isn't the solution of this equation.
