Answer:

x = 3 , y = 1

Explanation:

given

(2x - y, 2 ) = (5, y + 1 )

equate corresponding x and y coordinates, that is for y- coordinates

y + 1 = 2 ( subtract 1 from both sides )

y = 1

now substitute y = 1 into the equation for the x- coordinates

2x - y = 5 , so

2x - 1 = 5 ( add 1 to both sides )

2x = 6 ( divide both sides by 2 )

x = 3

solution : x = 3 and y = 1
