• log a = log b ⇒ a = b

given

log(2x + 1) + log5 = log(x + 6) ← applying rule to left side

log5(2x + 1) = log(x + 6) , then

10x + 5 = x + 6 ( subtract x from both sides )

9x + 5 = 6 ( subtract 5 from both sides )

9x = 1 ( divide both sides by 9 )
