I’m trying to get a Canadian study permit. Am I supposed to show a financial proof of (1st year tuition fee + 10000cad) or proof of (sum of the tuition fees of all 4 years + 10,000cad)?

Answer:

Based on the official requirements from the Government of Canada, to get a Canadian study permit you need to provide proof that you have enough money to pay for:

- Tuition fees for the first year of your program

- Living expenses for yourself and any family members coming with you for the first year, up to a minimum of $10,000 CAD

You do not need to show proof of tuition for all 4 years up front. You just need to prove you can cover the first year of tuition plus the minimum $10,000 CAD for living expenses.

However, it's a good idea to also provide information about your plan for funding the remainder of your studies. This could include things like:

- Proof of continued income, scholarships or educational loans

- Acceptance into a program like co-op that helps fund future years

- A valid letter of support from a parent, relative or sponsor indicating their intent to provide ongoing financial support

Providing evidence of your funding plan for the full program can strengthen your application and chances of approval. But at the minimum, you must show you can pay the first year tuition plus $10,000 CAD for living costs.

I hope this helps explain the financial requirements for a Canadian study permit application! Let me know if you have any other questions.
