Single strands of hair and sperm cells are much smaller than 5 µm in diameter and do not have a nucleus, while an ovum (egg cell) is much larger than 5 µm in diameter. Bacterial cells, on the other hand, are typically in the range of 0.2 to 10 µm in diameter, and have a nucleus-like region in the nucleoid.
