Solution:

Haziq and Billy get $80 by selling their old toys at a sale.They divide the money in the ratio of 2:3.

Let's assume :-

  • Money received by Haziq = 2x
  • Money received by Billy = 3x.

Haziq and Billy get $80 by selling their old toys at a sale.

Then,

2x + 3x = $80

5x = 80

Divide both sides by 5,

(5x)/(5 )= \frac {80}{5}

x = 16

Money received by Haziq = 2x

Substitute the value of 'x' here,

2 * 16 = 32

Money received by Billy = 3x

3 * 16 = 48

Therefore,

  • money received by Haziq = $32
  • money recieved by Billy = $48
