Take the first equation and move 2y to the other side by subtracting. You will then have: x= 7-2y

Then using the second equation of. 3x - 2y = -3

Substitute 7 - 2 y for the x in the second equation

3(7 - 2y) - 2y = -3
21 - 6y - 2y = -3
21 - 8y = -3
-8y = -24
y = 3

Then find the x by using x= 7 - 2y

x = 7 - 2(3)
x = 7 - 6
x = 1
