-12 x = y^2 -10y +1

take 1/2 of the 'y' coeff square it and add it and subtract it

-12x = y^2 -10y + 25 -25 +1 reduce the R side

-12x = (y-5)^2 -24 Now divide both sides by -12

x = -1/12 (y-5)^2 +2 vertex = 2,5 for this sideways parabola

sideways parabola form : x = a ( y-k) ^2 + h where h,k is the vertex
