So we first need to set up the problem:
-25x -108 = -10x - 16
X represents the product of a number

When we see the word “decreased” it means (-) or minus.

When we see the phrase “less than” you normally flip the numbers which makes -10x - 16 rather than -16 - 10x.

Now let’s solve this:

-25x -108 = -10x - 16

-25x +10x = -16 + 108

As you notice, 10x and 108 have become positives and are on the opposite side of the equal sign (=). This is because we can’t add together number that have variables (x) with no variables. And you always need to change the sign if you put a number on the opposite side of the equal sign (=).

Next:

-25x +10x = -16 + 108

15x = 92

We have now added everything up! Now we need to divide the number with variable (x) from the number without the variable.

-15x = 92
—————
-15 -15
But if we divide these, it will not come as a whole number but a decimal.

So the answer is - 92/15 or - 6.13 (rounded version)

Let's solve this problem step by step.Let's assume the number is represented by "x."According to the problem, the product of the number and -25 is decreased by 108, which can be expressed as:-25x - 108The problem also states that this result is 16 less than the product of the same number and -10, which can be expressed as:-10x - 16Now we can set up an equation based on the given information:-25x - 108 = -10x - 16Let's solve for x:-25x + 10x = -16 + 108

-15x = 92Dividing both sides by -15:x = 92 / -15

x ≈ -6.13Therefore, the number is approximately -6.13.
