The arrival to the Cape Cod meant that instead of traveling through the highly taxed Middle East, they could just boat around them. This allowed those going around the cape cod to save butt tons of money, have direct access to Asian markets, and set up European owned ports on the Indian Ocean Basin. These ports allowed Europe to grow their market and global power. Basically the trip around the Cape Cod was like Europes big awakening of global superiority
