the domain is the interval or set of all valid x-values (the range is the interval or set of all valid y-values).

for a fraction to be valid the denominator (bottom part) must not be zero.

that means for

h(x) / g(x)

we must exclude the value(s) for x that make g(x) = 0.

g(x) = 5x - 7

0 = 5x - 7

5x = 7

x = 7/5 = 1.4

since g(x) is a linear function (the highest exponent of x is 1), we have only one zero solution (1.4).

therefore, 1.4 is the only value that is not in the domain of h(x) / g(x).
