When would you want to directly quote a source over paraphrasing it?

b. when you need to highlight the specific words of the author

d. is obviously not the answer, so that can be eliminated. quoting the author wouldn't help explain what they say in further description so c can be eliminated. that leaves a and b. a is wrong because why would you quote the author directly if you can better state the quote in your own words.
