Answer: 26

Explanation:

reduced by 60% means it is 40% of its original price. Because 100% - 60% = 40%.

40% in decimal form is 0.4, Therefore if we do 0.4 * 65 (the original price), we get 26

\begin{array} \cline{1-1} \textit{\textit{\LARGE a}\% of \textit{\LARGE b}}\\ \cline{1-1} \\ \left( \cfrac{\textit{\LARGE a}}{100} \right)\cdot \textit{\LARGE b} \\\\ \cline{1-1} \end{array}~\hspace{5em}\stackrel{\textit{60\% of 65}}{\left( \cfrac{60}{100} \right)65}\implies 39\hspace{8em}\underset{ \textit{price now} }{\stackrel{ 65~~ - ~~39 }{\text{\LARGE 26}}}
