The diagram shows a rhombus with side lengths of 5 units. If the rhombus is dilated by a scale factor of 3, describe the effect on the area of the rhombus.

A. The new rhombus has an area 3 times as big

B. The new rhombus has an area 6 times as big

C. The new rhombus has an area 9 times as big

D. The new rhombus has an area 12 times as big

It is C but I just need an explanation on why it is C.
