Given the center of a circle is at (2,-4) and one of the points on the circle is (5, -8), what

is the length of the diameter of the circle?

A. 5
B. 6
C. 10
D. 12

The answer is C I just need an explanation on why it is C.

The radius of a circle is defined as the distance from the center to a point on the circle. Using the distance formula, the radius is
5.

The diameter is twice the length of the radius, so the length of the diameter is
5 \cdot 2=10.
