To solve this we can use the process of substitution.

The second equation can become x=13-5y.

We can now replace the x in 4x in the first equation with 13-5y.

The first equation now becomes 4(13-5y)+y=14.

Now solve

52-20y+y=14

52-19y=14

-19y=38

Y=-2

Now to solve for x

Substitute the value we got for y (which is -2) into any equation and solve for x. I will use to the second equation

X+5(-2)=13

X-10=13

X=23

Done

Y=-2

X=23
