Explanation:

I used SOH CAH TOA

I saw the smaller triangle, and concluded it was a 30-60-90 triangle, so now I can use that outer corner which is 60 degrees, because it covers the whole triangle.

so now I need to find the sine of 60 degrees, as the question is asking to find z.


sine(60)=(z)/(15)

multiply both sides by 15, and z=12.99

so z=13

Using the geometric mean theorem,
x=√(3 \cdot 12)=6.

Using the Pythagorean theorem,
z=√(6^2+12^2)=\boxed{6√(5)}.
