well, we can look at it this way, we know that 1lb has 16oz, and that one Ton has 2,000 lbs, so one Ton is really (16)(2000) ounces, so then how many Tons in 48000 ounces?

\begin{array}{ccll} Ton&Oz\\ \cline{1-2} 1 & (16)(2000)\\ T& 48000 \end{array} \implies \cfrac{1}{T}~~=~~\cfrac{(16)(2000)}{48000} \implies \cfrac{1}{T} ~~=~~ \cfrac{32000}{48000} \\\\\\ \cfrac{1}{T}=\cfrac{2}{3}\implies 3=2T\implies \cfrac{3}{2}=T\implies 1.5=T
