(I got a very similar problem in one of my classes and me and my friend disagree).

Suppose you have a pair of six sided dice. The probability of the dice getting any value is independent of the other. What are the chances of you rolling a 3 and a 5?

Would the solution just be 1/6 * 1/6 = 1/36?
Do you need to include the probability of getting a 5 and a 3 (different order)?

Answer: The answer would be:

1/36

Explanation:

You would get this since you are trying to get both independent rolls that reset the chances again.

To get 3 first you would have a probability of 1/6.

For the probability of rolling 5 on the second roll would also be 1/6.

So to get the probability of getting both is 1/6*1/6=1/36

Hope this helps! [:
