Craig has $25 to spend

He rented shoes for $5.25 meaning he now has only $19.75 left

Craig also paid $4.00 for each game he played

We could describe how many games he could play using this equation : $19.75 - $4.00x = 0

This equation describes how many times (denoted as x) do we have to spend $4.00 until we have $0 left

$19.75 - $4.00x = 0

$4.00x = $19.75

x = $19.75/$4

x = 4.9375

Because the amount of games Craig could play can't be decimal (it has to be a whole number), hence we can round down the solution into x = 4

Therefore the amount of games Craig could play is 4 times

Check your answer :

4($4.00) = $16

Subtract $19.75 with the total amount of money Craig will spend after 4 games (i.e. $16)

$19.75 - $16 = $3.75

Craig is $.25 away for him to be able to the game for 5 times
