l = 40 + 2w

perimeter p = 2(l+w)

also given p = 680cm

⇒ 2(l+w) = 680

⇒ l + w =
(680)/(2)

⇒ l + w = 340

⇒ 40 + 2w + w = 340 (since ; = 40 + 2w)

⇒ 2w + w = 340 - 40

⇒ 3w = 300

⇒ w =
(300)/(3)

⇒ w = 100

⇒ l = 40 + 2(100)

= 40 + 200

⇒ l = 240
