Show your work to determine the area of the room in square feet.

Scale of 1:40 means each inch on the drawing represents 40 inches

So if the length is 6 in on the drawing the actual room is 6 x 40 or 240 in or 20 ft

The width is 4 x 40 = 160 in or 13 1/3 ft

The actual area will be 20 x 13 1/3 = 320 square ft
