Some of the most common ways to greet someone in Spanish:

Hola- Hello

Buenos días- Good morning

Buenas tardes/noches- Good afternoon/evening

¿Cómo estás?- How are you?

¿Qué tal?- What's up?

¿Qué pasa?- What's wrong?

¿Qué haces?- What are you up to?

Answer:
It can be: Hola (Hi) and after a "¿cómo estas?" (how are you) those are the most common ones and can be used even if you are not very close or familiar, if its someone you just metor something, just say "hola" (hi)
