13. Mr. Khadka has bought two pieces of carpet for his room. Carpet-X has area 48 sq. ft and width 6 ft. The area of carpet - Y is one-half area of carpet-X. Both the carpets have same length. a) Find the length of the carpet - X. b) Find the area of the carpet - Y. c) What is the length of carpet - Y? d) Find the width of the carpet-Y?​

Answer:

a) length of carpet X is 8 ft b) area of carpet Y is 72 sq. ft c) length of carpet Y is 8 ft d) width of carpet Y is 9 ft

Explanation:

area of carpet X is 48 sq. ft

width if carpet X is 6 ft

length of carpet X is equal to length of carpet Y, lets make it l since it is unknowns

area of the carpet = length × width

48= l ×6

48/6 = l =8ft.

from the question, carpet Y is 1 and half area of carpet X = 3/2 ×48 = 72 sq. ft

since length of carpet X is equal to length of carpet Y, length of carpet Y is 8ft

area of the carpet = length × width

72= 8× width

72/8=9=width of carpet Y
