Mentioning facts, statistics and relevant details help the writers prove their point empirically.

A cause-and-effect essay is a kind of expository essay which tries to establish a link between the 'cause' of a phenomenon and it's 'effect'.

Since such kind of writing involves evaluating a phenomenon and establishing an argument on its basis, it is important for the writer to support his/her argument with the relevant facts and statistics.
