Answer: see the explanation for a-c

Explanation:

a) 6x+8=2x-7, how do you get that to 4x+8=-7?

simplify the x's.

in the first question the underlined term you need to get to 0. So how you would do that is to -2 from both sides.

6x(-2x)+8=2x(-2x)-7

that would get you to here:

4x+8=-7 = 4x+8=-7

b) 1/3x +2+2x-3 to x+6=6x-9

the easiest way to explain this is to multiply everything by 3.

multiply the 1/3 by 3 to get rid of the denominator so its just x, multiply the 2 to get . Then on the other side of the equal sign multiply the 2x by 3 to get 6x and the -3 by 3 to get -9.

x+6=6x-9 = x+6=6x-9

c)3(4x-1)=15x+18 to 4x-1=5x+6

so first you need to do the brackets, 3 times 4x and -1.

12x-3=5x+6

now you may be thinking, thats not the right answer-

but now we divide it all by 3.

12x-3/3=15x+18/3

and all simplified that would equal:

4x-1=5x+6

4x-1=5x+6 = 4x-1=5x+6
