v = u + at

where v is the final angular velocity of the top, u is the initial angular velocity of 8.5 rad/s, t is time elapsed, and a is the angular acceleration of the top.

Sun values into equation:

0 = 8.5 + 1.1a

Rearrange for a:

1.1a = -8.5
a = -8.5/1.1

So the angular acceleration of the top is 7.7 rad/s^2 to 2.s.f
