When giving breaths to an adult, use the head-tilt/chin-lift technique to open the airway to the neutral position.

So, This position aligns the head and neck so that the tongue is not blocking the airway.

Once the airway is open, you can begin giving breaths. To give breaths, pinch the person's nose shut and take a normal breath. Then, place your mouth over the person's mouth and blow into their lungs until you see their chest rise. Give two breaths, each lasting about one second. Continue to give breaths and check for a pulse every two minutes until the person starts breathing on their own or help arrives.
