Answer:

x = 17

Explanation:

These two expressions add to 180. If you took the top parallel down and put it on top of the second parallel line, you would see that the two expressions would form a straight line. A straight line has a measurement of 180.

9x + 4 + 2x - 11 = 180 Combine like terms

11x - 7 = 180 Add 7 to both sides

11x - 7 + 7 = 180 + 7

11x = 187 Divide both sides by 11

x = 17

Answer:

x = 17

Explanation:

the angle vertically opposite to (2x - 11) is congruent and equal to (2x - 11)

then

(2x - 11) and (9x + 4) are same- side interior angles and sum to 180° , so

2x - 11 + 9x + 4 = 180

11x - 7 = 180 ( add 7 to both sides )

11x = 187 ( divide both sides by 11 )

x = 17
