a) Total distance = (1/2)(10)(20 + 6) = 5(26)

= 130 meters

b) Acceleration in the last 8 seconds =

(10 - 0)/(12 - 20) = -10/8 = -1 1/4 m/sec²

= -1.25 m/sec²

In the last 8 seconds, the cycle

decelerated at a rate of -1.25 meters per

second per second.
