Two angles are complementary to each other. One angle measures 16°, and the other angle measures (2x − 9)°. Determine the value of x.

Explanation:

Complementary means they add to 90 degrees

so:

16 + (2x-9) = 90

7 + 2x = 90

2x = 83

x = 41.5
